My opinion on Romeo and Juliet

The story (so far) is very intriguing. I like how they use a different type of english than we do. It makes me wish I lived back in that era, at least without the lower respect for women.

Rosaline's Side of the Story

Dear Diary,
Today was a little strange. You know that guy I told you about? The one named Romeo? Well, I saw him following me today. Yeah, that's what made today weird. I don't get it! I don't like it, either. I know hes in love with me, but seriously?! You don't go around stalking people, its not polite. I understand why hes stalking me, but I don't love him back. He needs to take a hint!!

Dear Diary,
I went to the party that's at Capulet's house today. And guess who was there???  Yeah, that's right! Romeo. UGH he needs to grow UP! Theres only one upside to today: Romeo found another girl. He saw her, and in only five minutes they kissed. KISSED!!!!!! I might be jealous........no, never mind. I'm not jealous. Hes finally going to leave me alone! But will i miss him...?

"Who controls the past, controls the future" - George Orwell

To me, this quote has a bigger meaning than you realize. My interpretation of this quote what ever happens in the past can change the future in many, many ways. A good example of this is the short story "A Sound Of Thunder" by Ray Bradbury. In this short story, technology has gotten to the point where time travel is possible. The company, "Time Travel Inc.", uses this machine to travel back in time to hunt rare animals. One could go back in time and hunt buffalo when it was plentiful in the old west. Well, the main character, Eckles, wanted to hunt dinosaurs. to be more specific, he wanted to hunt and kill a Tyrannosaurus Rex. But something goes wrong. Eckles didn't realize what he was up against and chickened out at the last minute. He then wonders through the prehistoric jungle and steps on a butterfly. When they return to the future, they discover that time has forever changed. America is now run by a dictatorship instead of democracy. Even the way we spell things changed. All because a guy stepped on a mere butterfly in the past. That is a good example of a butterfly effect, don't you think? If you step on a butterfly, you change the future for the worst.

The Veldt (Found in the book "The Illustrated Man")

Technology isn't a threat to our society. At least, not yet. It has led us to new discoveries. To cures that were, before the technology we have today, unknown. But it can get out of hand. "The Veldt" is a perfect example. In this short story, a family of four decides to buy a fully automated house, complete with a nursery for the children. This nursery is the main problem of the story.  It takes the imagination of whoever occupies the room and puts it on the walls, creating your own virtual-reality dream world. Add that to the house that does every single thing for you, and you get a very lazy, spoiled family. But one day the parents get sick of their children's spoiled behavior and decide to turn off the house and take a vacation. Big mistake. Instead of immediately leaving the home after packing, they decide to let the children play a little longer in the nursery. The parents were murdered by the children's dream world, thinking that when the children called for them, they were in trouble and needed help. See how out of hand our own creations can get? In my opinion, we should limit ourselves to the amount of technology we use. That way we will avoid becoming lazy and spoiling ourselves to the point of no return.

World Domination

What if dogs were the dominant species on Earth? What would happen then? Would we, no longer in charge of what happens to our planet, be the pets in the place of them? Well, I know. I know what would happen, because it has happened. Some how history changed. The evolution time line changed. And I'm the only one who is aware of that change. Every where I go, there are Dogs. Not the dogs you are familiar with. These dogs have undergone an extreme evolutionary change.

Its as if the predator within was given an intelligence boost.  They walk erect, like a man. These dogs are much like werewolves, except they cant revert back to human form. Technology has changed as well. Computers, cars, telescopes. All reshaped as time reshaped in favor of Dogs. I'm one of the lucky ones. Some how, for some reason, I haven't been found. Or I was found, but was left alone because they know a mere human can not hurt any of these dog-things. At least not alone. I'm looking for others like me. Others who've noticed the change in reality. Each night I wander the land that was once known as America, searching for a sign of human life that isn't ruled by Dogs.

Global Warming (Re-write)

The Earth. Its not only a place of wonder and new discoveries, its also our home. And we, the human race, have been bad home owners. We've let the greenhouse gasses that our factories and automobiles create run wild for to long. It's time we stand up and fight  the effects of Global Warming! How can we stand by and watch our planet be destroyed by the air and water pollution that are products of the machines that make our lives easier? Imagine an Earth with no polar ice caps! Imagine an Earth that's 90% water! We are the cause of this problem, so WE have to fix it. Together, as the people of Earth!

Gabriel Giffords

The recent shooting at Safeway was very tragic. I believe 18 people were shot, some articles say 13, some 10. But one thing is known. 6 people were shot in killed by J.L. Loughner in his attempt to assasinate Gabrielle Giffords. He almost succeded.
